This fused glass, freestanding wave can sit on a windowsill or shelf and catches the light wonderfully. Candles can be lit behind the wave to add extra ambiance.
Each one is handmade and individual, there will be slight differences in each piece and therefore will vary slightly from the photographs.
The sand in this beach scene is made with marzipan coloured glass, overlaid with powdered glass and frit to give the impression of ripples in the sand and pebbles and painted with gig rowers. It is created in Claire's workshop and is a 2-3 day process, layers of thin coloured glass, crushed glass and powdered glass are used to create an intricate design. It is then heated in a specialist kiln for 13 -15 hours to fuse the crushed glass together, after cooling and cold working it is returned to the kiln where it is slumped over a mould for another 13 hours to create the distinctive curves. Each piece is handmade with no templates or machinery so no two are identical.
It is 9 cm tall and approx 23 cm wide. The wave is signed.
